When will Hyperia be closed?
Hyperia will be closed for pre-planned maintenance works between 23rd and 27th September 2024.
Why will Hyperia be closed?
As with all rides, manufacturer guidelines must be adhered to and within those are pre-planned periods of maintenance. It’s standard practice for new rides to have to undergo manufacturer-lead maintenance checks to ensure the ride is functioning at it’s very best so that it continues to give guests the optimum experience possible.
Why aren’t you doing the work out of hours?
As you may have noticed, our Golden Goddess is somewhat tall (236ft in fact!)! As such the engineers working on her need some pretty special machinery that in turn requires a very specific set up in order to carry out these pre-planned maintenance works and the team need as many daylight hours as possible.
Why aren’t you doing this in the winter closed period?
We have a frightfully fear-some event just around the corner at which Hyperia is going to be one of the main attractions this year- any guesses what it might be? Yep you’ve guessed it, the one and only Fright Nights! For the first time this season, you’ll all be in with a chance of riding Hyperia in the dark! It’s going to make this already epic ride even more incredible! In order for us to ensure she’s at her very best for you all during the extended operating hours that our awesome Fright Nights event offers, means we need to get the maintenance works completed ahead of the event starting.
Is there something wrong/unsafe with Hyperia?
This is nothing to do with a safety concern, it’s simply standard, pre-planned manufacturer-led maintenance checks.
I have bought park tickets during those dates and specifically wanted to try Hyperia, what can I do?
We appreciate this temporary closure will be disappointing for those who planned to visit during those dates but rest assured you can move your booking date to another date of your choice. Please see below for more information on how to do this depending on where you booked your tickets:
For guests with day tickets booked via the Thorpe Park website:
If you have pre-booked a visit and wish to move your visit date, you change your booking via the booking portal in your booking confirmation. The link to access the portal is in your booking confirmation e-mail under ‘manage your booking’.
For guests with day tickets booked via a 3rd party website, e.g. Tesco, Picniq, Blue Light Card, Student Beans
Please email customer.services@thorpe-park.co.uk if you wish to discuss options about your upcoming visit.
For Merlin and Thorpe Park annual pass bookings:
If you wish to move your visit date, please use the Passholder Hub.
We appreciate this will be disappointing for those who planned to visit and to ride Hyperia during this temporary closure and thank you for your understanding and patience.
Will the Hyperia Plaza and Hyporium shop be open?
As there will be large scale machinery in the area plus our team members working at some rather epic heights (our Golden Goddess is 236ft tall after all!) the Hyperia Plaza and all food and retail units will remain closed throughout.
I’m staying at the Thorpe Shark Cabins and have booked a Hyperia themed room what do I do?
Guests with pre-booked Hyperia themed rooms will be contacted via email with the options available to them.
