It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the time has come to say goodbye to a much loved ride here at Thorpe Park Resort and what was the UK’s tallest log flume, Logger’s Leap.
Please see some FAQs below:
Q: What is the Logger’s Leap ride?
A: Logger’s Leap has been a part of Thorpe Park Resort since 1989. As a much loved ride and firm favourite amongst guests, staff and super fans, Logger’s Leap has created many happy memories for guests over the last two decades. The ride was opened by Timmy Mallet and at the time of its launch, was Britain’s highest log flume! In 1993, the ride gained mass publicity when Princess Diana and Prince’s William and Harry were photographed on the ride, enjoying a fun family day out at Thorpe Park.
Q: Why have you decided not to re-open the Logger’s Leap ride?
Sadly in recent years, the ride lost some of its magic and we feel now is the time to bid farewell to the Logs and look ahead at how we continue to create new and exciting experiences for families in the future. We hope that all the ‘Logger’s Leapers’ who loved going on the ride remember it as fondly as we do, but we think now is the time for us to cherish those memories and look forward at how we continue to make Thorpe Park Resort the UK’s most thrilling destination. We want our guests to come on this exciting journey with us, making even more memories in years to come with exciting new attractions and events along the way.
Q: Why did your website and social media channels keep promising ‘news’?
As with many things, situations can change and as plans develop they often move in different directions. We’ll always look back fondly on Logger’s Leap but now it’s time to look ahead to the future. Keep an eye out on our website and social channels over the coming weeks as we will be revealing our exciting 2019 plans very soon!
Q: What is replacing Logger’s Leap?
A: Whilst there are no immediate plans to launch something new, rest assured the area that Logger’s Leap once dominated will be forming part of our long term development plans. That is all we can say for now but we are continually working behind the scenes, often many years in advance, on developing our island like no other! We’ll be revealing our 2019 plans which we see new unmissable experiences for our guests to enjoy with us as we celebrate our 40th birthday year!
Q: How long will it be until we see something new?
Whilst we can’t provide that detail at this stage, we are continually looking at ways in which we can keep developing new and exciting experiences for our guests to enjoy.
We’ll be revealing our 2019 plans very soon which we see new unmissable experiences for our guests to enjoy with us as we celebrate our 40th birthday year! We can’t wait to share the details with our guests!
Q: What are you doing with the ride parts? Can I have any?
A: We are very excited to announce that fans of the ride will have a chance to get their hands on some props from the attraction via an auction. We will be announcing in May how you can be in with a chance of taking a piece of Logger’s Leap home.
Keep an eye on our social channels in May for more information.
Q: What are you doing to commemorate Princess Diana given she enjoyed this ride with the two Princes?
A: Following Princess Diana’s untimely death, a plaque was erected at the entrance to the queue-line in her memory and we ensured the original Logger’s Leap boat she rode in was given pride of place at the front of the queue-line and bedded with beautiful flowers. We will be maintaining these memorials and they will continue to take pride of place on the Resort.
